What Do Morph Suits and Boats Have in Common?

My name is Lauren McClung and I’m going to share some lessons I have learned at Indi-Ed.

Lesson 1: Be friendly to everyone

At the beginning of the school year, I didn’t know anyone. I was friendly to everyone and when I got to know all the students I felt more included at Indi-Ed than I was before. Now, we can have fun working together which is an amazing way to learn.

Lesson 2: Never give up; keep trying

In this picture I am looking for Reese. Even though it was hard because he was camouflaged so well, I didn’t give up. Indi-Ed gives me extra time and encouragement to do my multiplication facts.

Lesson 3: Listening means learning

In this picture, our class is listening to the scientist explain how to work the controls on the Weatherbird. The Weatherbird is a research boat that tags fish, collects soil samples, and tracks data on fish in the Gulf of Mexico. I love Indi-Ed because we get to go and experience things ourselves and listen in a fun way.

Indi-ED Blog Post by Ben Rogers

From Halloween to the R/V Weatherbird II, this week at Indi-ED was an exciting one! Here is a recap of our exciting week at Indi-ED…

This was me on Monday (Halloween) dressed up in a pink morphsuit. I could talk all day about my costume and how fun it was going to school like that, but I’ll shorten it to two sentences.

1. When I look at this picture, I think it represents how we can be fun and very productive at the same time, because that’s what Indi-ED is.

2.THIS PHOTO MUST BE SHARED WITH THE WORLD IMMEDIATELY, IF YOU HAVE FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, ETC. PLEASE SHARE! THANK YOU!

On Wednesday, we had Mrs. Romero, an oceanographer, come in and talk about her research on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. She was also part of the mud and blood crew on the Weatherbird II R/V to collect mud samples to test for oil in the ocean bottom.

Here this is our class working on our Future City project. We take turns building structures around a virtual city (sim city) and make tax income and fix problems around the city. It’s a very fun project I hope we do again in the “future”!

On Friday, we got to tour the Weatherbird II R/V at USF. The vessel was used for research on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Mrs. Romero has been on the vessel as part of the mud crew on the mud and blood cruise. Our school even got to eat lunch on the boat! That’s an experience I’ll never forget.

In conclusion, this week at Indi-ED was very exciting for the students and teachers, we hope to have as many weeks like this as we can in the future…
